Public Schools (K-12)

Midwest City is served by three separate public school districts:

Mid-Del Schools operate Midwest City High School, Carl Albert High School and the Mid-Del Technology Center, three Junior High Schools and eight Elementary Schools within the city limits of Midwest City.

 

Mid-Del Schools (total district) had a 2001-2002 enrollment of 14,444 students, a certified teaching staff of 1150 and a support staff of 647.  Average tenure for teaching staff is 10.58 years and average salary is $30,952.93.  The system includes 27 school sites and a total of 2,515,797 square feet.  The district has a General Fund Budget of $77,272,796.61, an annual payroll of $64,868,413.12 and a per pupil expenditure of $5,424.  Mid-Del Schools is among the five largest employers in the Midwest City area.

 

 Since 1990, Mid-Del voters have approved nearly $70 million in building, equipment, service and educational improvements that benefit Midwest City by making the community more attractive for residents and businesses.  Each year, Mid-Del Schools has construction and renovation projects throughout the district.  Currently, the district is in the process of upgrading Technology at every building, providing additional Internet access and improving internal communications.  All secondary sites have been completed with elementary nearing completion.

Choctaw-Nicoma Parks Schools operate Choctaw High School, two junior high schools and six elementary grade attendance centers.  Many Midwest City families are served by the Choctaw - Nicoma Park Public Schools.  Midwest City homes located east of a line that is roughly one-quarter of a mile west of Westminster Road are served by this highly rated district.  Some Midwest City housing additions served by this district include: Eastwood, Oakwood East, Oakwood East Royale, Jaycie Place Estates, Forest Glen, Windsong, Nottoway, and Stone Creek.

Oklahoma City Public Schools operate two elementary schools located within the Midwest City municipal limits.  In November 2001, Oklahoma City voters approved a historic bond issue and tax initiative. The $512 million generated will provide for every OKCPS student to attend school in a brand new or newly renovated school. It also provides academic programs that will help prepare students for the 21st century workplace.
