Electric power is supplied to Midwest City by OG+E Electric Service. Their rates are among the
lowest compared to those in 20 of the nation's largest cities.
OG+E is dedicated to the policy of supplying an abundance of power at the lowest possible rate.
Savings on electricity is a strong consideration for industries considering expansion, enabling
them to use their financial resources in products and people and providing services a cut above
their competitors.
OG+E provides a fully staffed, state-of-the-art Business Resource Center. They have the
equipment and expertise to assist industries in planning for expansion or relocation.
NATURAL GAS
Oklahoma Natural Gas Company is a division of ONEOK, Inc., based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. ONG
is an integrated natural gas utility operating entirely within the State of Oklahoma.
Almost all of the gas supplied to their customers is produced in Oklahoma. They serve
approximately three-fourths of the State, with more than 18,000 miles of pipeline providing
reliable, efficient energy to their customers.
ONG's rates are consistently among the lowest in the nation in all categories. They have been a
pioneer in developing innovative programs to meet the needs of business and industry to help
them remain competitive in the marketplace.
Major industrial customers may take advantage of ONG's pipeline capacity lease program that
allows them to purchase gas from any supplier and use ONG's extensive transportation system
to deliver the equivalent to their facility. They also provide special pricing for smaller businesses,
schools and hospitals.
TELEPHONE SERVICE
There is currently 4,000 miles of fiber-optic cable in Oklahoma. Many of Midwest City's industries
have access to fiber-optics. Telecommunication services in Midwest City are primarily provided
by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Midwest City is served by a modern electronic
switching central office capable of meeting the needs of both large and small business
customers. Some of the services that can be provided include basic service, Plexar service,
custom calling and data transmission. Other companies include: Southwestern Bell Telecom
(terminal equipment), Southwestern Bell Mobile Services and Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages.
WATER
Midwest City is supplied by a municipally owned system. Source of water is 24 deep wells and
Lake Thunderbird. Ground storage capacity of treated water is eight million gallons. Elevated
storage capacity is 600,000 gallons.
Water plant capacity is 13 million gallons of water per day. The minimum daily consumption has
been six million gallons per day and maximum daily consumption has been 13 million gallons
per day.
Water pressure is maintained at 60 psi minimum and 105 psi maximum.
WASTE WATER
Midwest City has a Rotating Biological Contactor type of sewage treatment plant. The capacity
of sewage treatment is 11.8 million gallons per day. The present load is six million gallons per
day.
Rates
Residential, commercial and industrial minimum charge is $3.40 per month for the first 2,000
gallons plus $1.70 per 1,000 gallons of metered water.
Restrictions
Harmful chemicals, oil or unusual waste materials cannot be disposed of through the sanitary
system. Facilities are available or can be made available for handling unusual waste material.
REFUSE DISPOSAL
Midwest City's collection system is municipally owned and operated. Sanitation units serve
residents weekly with the Semi-Automated Polycart System. Commercial establishments are
served one to five times each week depending on the type of service needed.
Rates
Minimum charge for residential service is $6.25 per month. Charges for commercial sanitation
service are on a graduated scale in accordance with the time and service required.
